Rival’s Duel 34- Linear Decks and the Definition of Interesting

Hello Everyone and welcome to another episode of Rival’s Duel. This weekmarks a return to the roots of Rival’s Duel, as Nole and Eric are on opposite sides of another debate and there is no reconciliation to be found. Today’s topic is which is worse to play against, Super linear decks (like Kaalia, Neckusar, or Arcum Dagson) or Goodstuff decks (like Reaper King, Child of Alara, or Anafenza). With no emails this week, so instead Eric and Nole spend some time tackling the issues of the moment. They talk about Tiny Leaders (they both love it, but are not sure they understand it enough to cast about it), Magic’s long history of video games (Duels of the Planeswalkers 2015=bad, Shadalar=Good, MtG Battleground=Not actually Magic), and the card Raging River.

There are two decks that both suffer from “I know every card in the deck as soon as I see your Commander” Syndrome (or IKECITDASAISYCS for short), goodsutff decks full of powerful cards and super-linear decks that do only one thing. This week, Eric and Nole are picking sides on which one is worse, with Nole claiming the linear decks are boring, and Eric saying the same about goodstuff. This turned out to be quite the debate.
